About Benjamin
Like I said, I graduated with a BFA from UIUC. I studied Music Education and Acting. My heart is set on acting, and that’s what I’m currently pursuing; however, all my life, I have loved the cello and I have loved teaching.
I have had the fortune to learn from teachers such as Andrew Snow and Dmitry Kouzov, both of who are renowned cellists and who have also had the fortune to study from world-class cellists.
One of my strongest skills is my ability to coach and respond to an individual’s needs. I was lucky enough to intern and direct my own orchestra in high school, and have since held Music Director positions in various musical groups in college. My intention is set to providing you with strongly individualized lessons centered on responding to your goals, which would then be supported through my experience.

If you’re wondering whether I’m the right fit for you, here’s what I’m offering:
Students who have
No musical experience
Informal experience (self-taught or a basic understanding of the instrument / can read music)
1-3ish years (you’ve played for a bit and would like some focused lessons to really understand the instrument and the craft)
In my lessons, you can expect college-level instructional material made available to your specific level of experience (and that includes none!). This means ear training, music theory development, fundamentals of technique (too many players are taught to play rigidly and either incur injury or approach a physical limit to their growth as a musician), and musicianship skills.
Long story short, I can teach and help you play what your heart has always wanted to play. Music is about storytelling. And even if we were to play the same piece, it would be a different story to each of us. Let me help you tell YOUR story :)
