I received my BA in Spanish in 2021 & started working as a Spanish tutor shortly after. I have taught students at all levels from beginners to conversationalists. I love helping students learn!

About Liesl
I believe that words and ideas are our greatest tool for inspiring change in the world. Therefore, the more words and languages each individual speaks the better our world can become. I am passionate about language and expanding linguistic understanding though the broader use of the Spanish which is one of the reasons I decided to become a Spanish tutor after graduating college. Through my work with my students over the past year I am constantly inspired and remember why I wanted to learn Spanish in the first place. It is one of my greatest privileges to share my knowledge and empower students to do the same.

About the lesson

I create each lesson plan around the individual's learning style and goals. For some this looks like playing word games and for others this might look like reading a more challenging text in Spanish and identifying new vocabulary words. For upper level students I love to watch scenes from popular movies together as a way to practice listening comprehension and build receptive vocabulary. At the beginning of each session I check in with my students to see if they have any particular goals for that session. At the end of each session I like to ask what activities were most helpful to them and what was less so in order to constantly adjust each session to the student's needs. I work to celebrate successes and encourage each student to take ownership of their skills and feel empowered through learning together.
