About Medha
I'm Medha. I'm turning twenty-two this year and in an exciting time of my life as I'm gearing up for a Master's degree. I am currently finishing my Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Data Science at the University of British Columbia. I particularly enjoy math so I decided to pursue a Math minor as well, and I'm quite happy that I powered through with it since I got to learn so much about the building blocks of math and the application of the many confusing, abstract topics we get taught in school.
I have been a student all my life, so alongside learning oftentimes difficult content, I noticed in a shift in my learning approaches over the years. I cracked the code for learning for myself: a low-pressure environment. The lesser I strained myself to be the 'best' the easier my journey with learning got. Allowing myself days of physical and mental rest also went a long way in letting my brain and body breathe, and I strongly advocate for forgiveness and self-care amidst a stressful journey of learning. I am specific with my study plans and space out the work I have to do, hence focusing on a strong work ethic, over mindless labor over too many hours. I have a systematic way of approaching topics from difficult to easy and the importance of celebrating small wins.

My approach to tutoring is rooted in empathy and adaptability, as a student myself I believe that's the best way to create a low-pressure learning environment.
I focus on meeting students where they are and creating a supportive, judgment-free space where they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I understand STEM subjects can often be intimidating and stressful as someone who spent a long time learning how to learn, so I recognize the emotional side of learning. I recognize that confidence and mindset are just as important as content, and I aim to support both. A typical session involves identifying areas of difficulty, reviewing key ideas, working through problems together, and gradually encouraging independent problem-solving.
My lessons are best suited for middle school, high school and undergraduate students in math, calc, pre-calc, statistics, SAT prep- especially those who feel stuck or need help rebuilding or refining their foundations! :)
