About Phan
I have extensive experience in both classical piano and contemporary keyboard performance, along with four years of teaching experience working with students across a wide range of musical styles and goals. In addition to piano instruction, I also teach keyboard programming, synthesizers, band rehearsal/performance skills, composition, and music production. I recently earned my Bachelor’s degree in Composition and Music Production, and I offer these subjects either alongside piano lessons or as standalone instruction.
Because of my diverse musical background, I tailor each lesson to the individual student’s interests, experience level, and goals. Whether a student is focused on classical training, contemporary music, songwriting, performance, or just musical exploration, I try to make lessons both structured and engaging.
Beyond weekly lessons, I can also provide guidance based on my own musical and academic experiences, including advice on summer music programs, piano competitions, auditions, university applications, and music school preparation.

Some key aspects of my teaching approach include step-by-step guidance with a focus on proper posture through warmups and effective piano techniques for repertoires. All the reps chosen would match each student's level to ensure consistent progress, but I am also open to teaching any specific pieces or genres that students may be interested in exploring. I also incorporate music theory sessions to support the dexterity and repertoire study, fostering a well-rounded understanding of music.
My lessons are suitable for students between the ages of 6 and 18. While I prefer Zoom lessons for convenience and accessibility, I am also open to providing offline lessons in Koreatown, Los Angeles. Whether you are a beginner, have a basic or intermediate foundation in piano, I am here to support and guide you on your musical journey.
