I am mostly interested in teaching students to develop critical and creative thinking ability, which is consistent with goal of science teaching. While I do believe the above statement about critical and creative thinking, I also realize the importance of developing students’ practical skills to accompany their knowledge and problem solving abilities. I have developed and applied my teaching philosophy through experiences teaching various physics, geophysics, and geology related laboratory courses. I truly believe teaching a is mutual experience between students and the instructor which needs effective communication and constant feedbacks. Thus, the difficulty of the materials and contexts should be adjusted based on students’ level and needs.
I am a recent PhD graduate in Geophysics from Texas Tech. I have taught college physics and geology course for 8 years. I have taught at least over 300 students in a small classroom. I have also privately tutored college students in algebra and calculus.
