About Alexandra

Hi! I'm a first-year Philosophy student at Durham University with a strong academic background in English Literature, French and Russian.

I have experience supporting younger students with their studies from GCSE to A level, helping them build their confidence and skill in preparation for exams. Having recently completed my own A levels, I understand the pressures of school exams and can explain topics in a clear approachable way.
My lessons are tailored to the individual student, depending on their needs, we might work through difficult topics, practice exam questions, improve essays, develop vocabulary or simply build confidence in speaking and writing.

My aim is to make lessons engaging rather than intimidating, by creating a supportive and friendly environment.

About the lesson

Having completed A level examinations summer 2025, I understand how current students may feel and therefore have a unique approach to each student's needs. I value quality and efficiency, making lessons as productive as possible. I can support and advise, given my recent personal experience in high school, so students can feel heard and understood during our lessons.
For French lessons, 90% at least will be taught in that particular language, as it makes an incredible impact on the student's understanding, and practice of oral skill. Depending on the level the student is working at, there will be more writing support or reading support, but listening and speaking practice is essentially mandatory.
An average lesson would be 1 hour long, but for anyone seeking extra help, extra time can be arranged. My lessons are aimed at A level, AS level, and GCSE students.
