About Athenkosi
Hello, I’m Athenkosi Miya, a Computer Science and Mathematics graduate (University of Cape Town) with a solid foundation in pure Mathematics. I am passionate about helping students understand concepts clearly and improve their confidence in the subject.
I specialize in breaking down abstract ideas into simple, structured steps so that learners can truly grasp the logic behind the work. My lessons are patient, well-organized, and focused on building both problem-solving skills and independence.
I teach grade 12 level Mathematics and Physics, including exam preparation, in English (with support in isiXhosa and IsiZulu if needed). I also offer university level tutoring in 2nd and 3rd year mathematics courses.
More than anything, I want my students to grow in confidence — and to learn to enjoy and appreciate Mathematics the way I do.

My goal is not just to help students pass, but to help them truly understand mathematics and think logically. I believe that once a student understands why something works, their confidence grows naturally.
My Teaching Methodology:

* I identify exactly where a student’s misunderstanding begins and fix it at the root.

We have been friends for 3 years now. We met in our second year at UCT. Athi is very nice, understanding, and non-judgmental. He is very helpful and is good at explaining without forcing anyone to understand at the same time.
