About Irakli

Recent graduate with a Master's degree in Mathematics from the University of Edinburgh, where I studied with two scholarships. Previously graduated with a First Class Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the same university. Offering tuition to Maths/Further Maths students at secondary school (GCSEs, Nat5), Sixth Form (A-Levels, IB, Highers/Advanced Highers), or university level.

I have been tutoring on and off for the past seven years, officially tutoring three classes and seven individuals, while helping many others informally.
The two classes that did their exams (GCSE and IB exams, respectively) had a 100% pass rate. The individuals I tutored in A-Levels also saw a rapid rise in their grades and achieved their academic goals by getting into their dream universities. Finally, both individuals I helped with the university-level mathematics ended up getting As in their respective modules.

About the lesson

As a teacher, my main goal is to make maths a subject that is enjoyable to learn about. Numerous studies have shown that learning is easier and faster, and the information sticks with you longer, when you are interested in the topic you are studying. All of this makes learning maths less of a miserable experience and, in my experience, produces better exam results. To do this, I aim to cut down on memorisation as much as possible - instead of wasting time brute forcing information into your head, it is a lot easier and more beneficial to learn by understanding the logic behind the different topics and seeing how they link together. To this end, I like to use visual aids such as graphs and pictures, and I ensure to use many examples and introduce the motivation for the topics first before getting to theorems and generalisations.

When you get to a high level of mathematics, it may be difficult to realise why a student may not be able to understand something that someone proficient in mathematics may regard as trivial or easy. However, as someone who still remembers the process of learning and mastering the content that I teach, I can offer different perspectives and approaches from my own recent encounters with these topics - what I may lack in teaching experience, I make up for with my experience in having taken these exams in the past few years. Also, as a very recent maths graduate myself, I’ve had to develop my own methods of tackling the difficulties that crop up when learning maths, and these are the methods that I can provide to help clear up confusion in my students.

I first hired Irakli as my tutor 6 years ago. I was a young math student, struggling to get by. Irakli's tutoring has brought me a long way from there. He not only teaches about maths, but also about how to become self-sufficient in life and in studying. Irakli was the only reason I was able to pass my GCSEs, so I continued to hire him throughout my time at sixth form. I must have spent an amount upwards of £6,000 on hiring Irakli's tutoring services in the last 6 years, and I believe that this has been the best £6,000 I have spent in my life. It is a completely risk-free investment in my future thanks to Irakli's vast sea of mathematical knowledge. Finally, I would like to mention that Irakli was a huge factor in me being able to pass Higher Level Mathematics in the brutal curriculum of the IBDP, which would not have been possible without his math tutoring. I am now happily studying at my first choice for universities and still employing Irakli's tutoring services to help me with the mathematical part of my course.
