My teaching method begins with engagement. Many of my science teachers did not place what we were learning in perspective, i.e. how this knowledge relates to our understanding of the world and ourselves. Taking the time to emphasize those wonderous implications of science is key to promoting student engagement. I also strongly encourage my students to ask as many questions as they can big or small.
I became interested in biology while taking A.P Environmental Science in high school. In college, I did not declare a concentration so I could take courses in the many sub-disciplines such as: biochem, advanced physiology, zoology, and marine sciences and as a result, my biological knowledge is very well-rounded.
I played soccer in college, so most of my tutoring experience comes from helping lower classmen on the team get through tough introductory courses like molecular biology, chemistry and physics. I also, spent time teaching elementary school students the science that underpins climate change.
