About Nathan
My instruction moves at a deliberate pace, ensuring students master foundational mechanics before progressing to advanced techniques. With 13 years of experience teaching students from age 6 through adulthood, I focus on posture, hand position, scales, arpeggios, sight playing, and ear training to build lasting technical confidence.
My feedback is exacting and shaped by the conservatory discipline I developed during my DMA Piano Performance studies at the Yale School of Music. I encourage students to listen internally, develop clear musical intentions, and understand dynamics and expression across both jazz improvisation and classical repertoire.
I find the greatest satisfaction in helping students align their mental conception with their physical execution. My goal is to develop a sophisticated sense of audiation—the ability to hear music internally—so their playing becomes more controlled, intentional, expressive, and confident.

Instructional pacing remains deliberate, ensuring that every student masters the foundational mechanics before progressing to more complex dynamics. I believe a strong technical foundation creates the confidence needed to approach challenging pieces with greater control and musicality.
My feedback is exacting and rooted in the conservatory discipline I developed during my DMA Piano Performance studies at the Yale School of Music. This approach encourages students to listen internally and form a clear musical intention before striking a single key on the instrument.
I find deep satisfaction in watching students develop greater awareness and control as they practice. The most rewarding moments come when their mental conception finally aligns with their physical execution, creating a sense of quiet clarity and genuine musical expression.
