About Melanie

Hi, I’m Melanie. I’m a Registered Nurse who enjoys helping students understand anatomy and biology in a way that actually makes sense.

I know these subjects can be a lot to take in, especially when you’re learning a large amount of new terminology and information at once. My approach is relaxed and straightforward. I like to break things down, explain concepts in different ways, and help students find study methods that work for them.

I work with students from high school through college and especially enjoy helping students who are interested in nursing or other healthcare careers.

My goal is simply to make difficult material feel a little less difficult and help students feel more confident in what they’re learning.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is simple: I want students to understand what they are learning—not just memorize a list of terms for an exam.

As a Registered Nurse, I bring real-world healthcare experience to anatomy and biology. I connect difficult concepts to practical examples, everyday situations, and memorable ways of thinking about the material. I also use simple explanations, visual learning, repetition, mnemonics, comparisons, and questions that help students make connections between concepts.

A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student already understands and where they are struggling. From there, we break the topic into manageable pieces instead of trying to learn everything at once. We work through the material together, use examples and memory techniques, and then finish with practice questions or a quick review to make sure the student can explain the concept independently.

What sets me apart is that I understand how overwhelming anatomy and biology can feel when you're staring at hundreds of unfamiliar terms. I don't believe students have to be naturally "good at science" to succeed. Sometimes they simply need the information explained in a different way. I am patient, encouraging, and willing to approach the same concept from several different angles until it clicks.

I tutor students at a variety of levels, including high school students, college students, and students beginning healthcare-related programs. I can help with general biology, human anatomy, introductory anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and foundational science concepts for students preparing for nursing or other healthcare programs.

My goal is for every student to leave a lesson thinking, "Oh, now I get it."
