My teaching pedagogy/methodology utilizes differentiated instruction and an interdependent model of the instructor as both teacher and learner. I focus on meeting students where they are, focusing on their particular learning style, and approaching language as something not to be fearful of but as a creative, fun, and useful skillset for analytical, interpretive, and cross-cultural development.
I am an ordained Baptist minister, college instructor, and linguist specializing in Old Testament/Hebrew Bible and Biblical Hebrew. I hold a Master of Divinity in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament from Shaw University Divinity School in Raleigh, North Carolina. Additionally, I have completed advanced language training along with graduating from the Hebrew Teacher Training Program in The Division of Hebrew Language Instruction in Hebrew University's Rothberg International School in Jerusalem, Israel. Furthermore, I have language competencies in Aramaic, Biblical Greek, French, and Latin.
I have taught Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, Biblical Interpretation/Exegesis, and Biblical Hebrew at the community college, college/university, and seminary levels. Furthermore, I have taught an array of other courses in the areas of biblical studies, social/theological ethics, religious/theological studies, and world religions.
I serve on the faculty of Shaw University in the Division of Humanities, Religion, and Philosophy in the Religion and Philosophy program as Instructor of Religion. Prior to my return to the east coast, specifically the state of Virginia, I served as the Lorine Anne and John Louis Weidenfeller Scholar of Christian Spirituality at Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, TX.
In addition to my work as a teacher and scholar, I also have served as a pastor since 18 years of age. I served three congregations throughout the state of North Carolina from the age of 18 to 30. Now at the age of 33, I serve as Pastor of Asbury Christian Fellowship Church (formerly Asbury United Methodist Church) in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I also am the founder/owner of T. Terrell Judkins Consulting where I specialize in churches, parachurch entities, religious, organizations, and nonprofits focusing primarily on nonprofit development, gaining tax-exempt status, capital campaigns/fundraising, organizational development, and leadership training and development.
