About DeWayne
Welcome. My name is Dr. DeWayne R. Stallworth, and I bring to meditation teaching more than a decade of experience as a professor, counselor, and researcher in religion and spirituality. I hold advanced degrees in both counseling and religious studies, and I taught college for several years. My published works and ongoing research explore consciousness, existential meaning, and the relationship between spirituality and human development. When you study with me—whether one-on-one or in a group—you can be assured of a professional, supportive, and well-structured learning environment. My goal is to guide you with clarity and care, helping you understand not only how to meditate, but also why meditation can bring transformation to your life. With a foundation in counseling psychology and spiritual practice, I approach meditation as more than relaxation—it is a practice of energy, healing, and growth. Students who work with me gain both knowledge and confidence, learning to center themselves while exploring the deeper dimensions of awareness. You are in safe hands here: I am committed to creating a space that is respectful, professional, and transformative for every learner.

My Approach as a Meditation Tutor
Teaching Method and Techniques
I approach meditation instruction as both a contemplative practice and a transformative journey that integrates philosophy, psychology, spirituality, and energy awareness. Drawing from my background in counseling, theology, and existential phenomenology, I guide students toward inner clarity by combining traditional meditation techniques (breathwork, guided stillness, and body awareness) with reflective dialogue and energy work.
What makes me stand out is the foundational work I emphasize. Before going deeply into techniques, I create space for students to understand what meditation is and how energy functions in the human body. We explore energy as life force—how it is intended to flow, how it becomes blocked, and how trauma (even generational) can shape that flow. This grounding conversation prepares students to enter meditation with awareness, purpose, and openness.
Whether working one-on-one or in a group setting, my method is dialogical and experiential: learners engage through guided practices, journaling, and reflection. In one-on-one sessions, the dialogue is personalized to meet the individual’s needs and growth. In group settings, shared reflection fosters community, collective healing, and relational awareness.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Opening Dialogue (10 minutes): Exploration of what meditation entails and how energy interacts with the body and psyche.
Guided Practice (10 minutes): Centering meditation focused on grounding and breathwork.
Teaching Segment (10 minutes): Brief lesson on energy flow, trauma as blockage, and practices for release.
Reflective Dialogue (15 minutes): Individual processing in one-on-one sessions, or group sharing in community sessions.
Closing Practice (5 minutes): Silent centering or affirmation.
Next Steps: I recommend that the following sessions build on this foundation, helping learners become more comfortable with centering before moving into advanced practices.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What distinguishes my teaching is the fusion of scholarship, counseling expertise, lived spiritual practice, and energy-based foundations. With advanced training in counseling and religious studies, I help students understand not only how to meditate but why it transforms. My published works on existential and spiritual awareness, along with years of teaching and mentoring, allow me to frame meditation in ways that are intellectually rigorous, spiritually expansive, and practically healing.
By centering dialogue about energy and its role in human experience—how it flows, how it blocks, how trauma shapes it—I provide students with a holistic foundation for practice. This bridges personal growth with community healing, aligning meditation with more profound existential togetherness.
Who the Lessons Are For
My meditation lessons are designed for:
