About Karen
I have a Master's degree in Exceptional Student Education with additional courses that focused on preparation and classroom management. I have the training and knowledge to create lesson plans that teach students the proper use of the language, literature, grammar, spelling, and writing techniques. I am creative enough to capture the attention of students to keep them interested in continuing education.

Throughout my years of teaching, I have discovered that the most effective way to learn a new language is to use a combination of different language methodologies. The most common teaching methods I use are:
Direct Method - grammar rules are avoided and there is an emphasis on good pronunciation.
Grammar-translation - learning is largely by translation to and from the target language.
Audio-lingual - practice common dialogues for every situation.
Structural approach - grammatical rules learned one at a time in a set order.
Total Physical Response - having the learner respond to simple commands such as "stand up".
Task-based language learning - teaching on the completion of a task that interests the learner.
Natural Approach - exposing the student to language that is comprehensive to them.
