I generally approach teaching with a question-focused method of trying to gauge what the student knows and what they are struggling with, and then guide them through building on what they know to understand what they are trying to master. I tend to favor working through problem sets together with the goal of identifying weak points and reviewing those portions of the subject, while also helping to build confidence with handling the methods they will need to use to achieve not just a good grade, but a solid understanding. Reading, learning, and discovery are personal passions of mine and I love the experience of helping someone to grasp a concept that had been giving them trouble. I am understanding of scheduling changes and I keep my sessions lighthearted so that they aren't completely serious and tedious!
I have over 12 years of tutoring experience at all age levels (elementary, middle school, high school, and undergraduate/college) and I have been a research and development chemist for over 8 years. I specialize in organic chemistry and mathematics, but I also tutor physics and other sciences as well as writing. Over the years I have helped students pass tough AP classes, avoid remedial classes, prepare for SATs and PCATs, and get through tough classes like Organic Chemistry to qualify for nursing programs. I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Stevenson University where I graduated summa cum laude with a 3.8 GPA and as a member of the Gamma Sigma Epsilon and Phi Theta Kappa honors societies.

Matthew was an exceptional student of mine at Stevenson, earning all A grades in the Chemistry major. Not only did Matthew master his own course material, he tutored his peers in both math and science. He was involved in many extra curricular activities, sharing an enthusiasm that motivated others. Mat is patient and nurturing and will help you succeed in your subjects.
Matt tutors our daughter in math and is super patient, engaging and makes learning fun. We have seen a huge improvement in her math skills after working with Matt. He is also very reliable and honest.
I've known Matthew for around thirteen years as a personal friend. He is a versatile teacher, but he is especially knowledgeable about the sciences - Organic Chemistry in particular. He has a wealth of practical experience working in the field of Chemistry that goes beyond just book knowledge: he has worked as a chemist for companies and has assisted in developing real products using applied science. This personal experience in the field is one of his greatest assets as a teacher; there is no teacher quite like personal experience.
Matthew is of a very kind, humble, and patient disposition, and these traits naturally lend to his teaching style and to nurturing the development of others. Both as an individual and as a professional, he is of high quality, and most any student could benefit from his tutelage.
Mat is very talented in science and mathematics and also has interest in English and literature. He communicates well and can break down complex concepts to help students "get it". I relied on his help in college calculus based physics and enjoyed working with him preparing experiments for students in the chemistry lab.
I know Matthew from church, heās an awesome dad and friend. Heās so smart he became a scientist and worked on a local innovation company in Lancaster, Pa
I would definitely take clases from him!
Matt has worked with my 4 year old step son, who absolutely loves āMr.Mattā. Matt is great with kids - engaging, fun and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend Matt if youāre looking for a great teacher!
I work with Mat in a preschool age childcare setting. He is very patient and kind when explaining concepts to the kids. He consistently maintains a positive and engaging attitude and the kids genuinely feel like he cares for them. Mat is very responsible and reliable. Mat is good at encouraging the kids and building a positive relationship with them.
