About Adam

Hi, I’m Adam - a Research Support Officer at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, where I work in a world-leading research environment at the cutting edge of molecular and cellular biology. I hold a Master’s degree in Biochemistry, and I’ve always had a passion for helping others understand science at every level!

Before starting my research career, I completed A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and PE, achieving A*s and As, along with strong GCSE results, including multiple Grade 9s. During my studies, I've supported many other students, helping friends, classmates, and family members with science and maths. Those experiences developed my ability to explain difficult concepts clearly, patiently, and in a way that genuinely clicks.

I understand what it’s like to feel stuck or overwhelmed by a subject. I wasn’t always the strongest student, but through consistency, good study habits, and effective learning strategies, I transformed my grades. Now, I help my students do the same. I focus on building confidence, improving study technique, and making learning enjoyable, not intimidating.

Outside the lab, I’m a big believer in living a balanced and active life. I enjoy football, going to the gym, travelling, and trying to become a better cook (although this is not a strong point). I bring the same energy, curiosity, and positivity from my hobbies into my tutoring style.

Whether you want to boost exam grades, build long-term understanding, or just feel more comfortable in Biology, Chemistry, or Maths, I’m here to help. Every student learns differently, and I tailor each lesson to their strengths, goals, and interests.

About the lesson

My lessons are built around proven, science-based learning methods to help students truly understand and retain information. I incorporate:

• Active recall: boosting memory by testing understanding throughout the lesson

• Spaced repetition: revisiting key topics at the right intervals to reinforce learning

• Exam-style questions — developing confidence and exam technique under realistic conditions

Each session is interactive, structured, and tailored to the student’s needs. I focus on identifying strengths, addressing gaps in understanding, and building long-term confidence in the subject.

I teach GCSE and A-level students in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths, and I’m committed to creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and thinking independently.

Lessons are available in 45–60 minute sessions, depending on preference and learning style.
