About William
I know what it is like to struggle in school. I was an undiagnosed dyslexic, but I was lucky that I had a strong support group, and I managed to get my BS in Electrical Engineering. Being dyslexic was both a blessing and a curse. I had difficulty reading, but to compensate I developed reasoning and logic skills. Those skills led to a great career in telecommunications as a Regional Technical Assistance Engineer, Corporate Course Developer and instructor, Fiber Optics Market Developer, and Product Line Manager. After retirement I volunteered for an adult education program and soon became the program coordinator. When Covid hit I developed method for online learning which got the program through the Covid crisis.

I understand that different individuals have different ways of learning. I find the best method of learning for each individual and teach to that method. I try to make the subject interesting by giving a reason for each subject with real life examples and backgrounds on the subject. As an example, ever wonder why the number 12 and 60 are used in measurements of distance, quantity and time? It dates back to ancient times when the Sumerians used 60 as a base for their numbering system. If you use your thumb on one hand to count the joints on that hand you will count 12 joints on one hand. If you use your other hand to keep track of how many times you count to 12 you count 5 times. 5x12=60. There is a difference between knowing and understanding. I don't want my students to just know that there are 12 inches in a foot or 60 minutes in an hour. I want my students to understand why there are 12 inches in a foot and 60 minutes in an hour. I can teach all levels of high school math and physics.

Perfect! William offers an amazing tutor experience. In person he takes as much time as needed to explain why the answer is what it is and how you end up there. For students that may have non traditional study hours he has been amazingly flexible and quick to respond. Could not be happier.
- Carlson is a good student. He needs to brush up on his math and physics for a test he will be taking.William's response :
I have gone over math, problem solving and test taking strategies with him. I've shown him how to use dimensional analysis and manipulate formulas.
Carlson is quick to learn and understand how to use the tools I have provided for him. He is well prepared, anxious and eager to learn.
