About Beverley
I have over 25 years of secondary school teaching and university lecturing experience. I moved to the northeast from London in 1990 and whilst working part time and having my children I decided to go back to university to study Law. I subsequently qualified as a solicitor in 1998. I practised for a few years before deciding that I missed the studying and learning that I had undertaken in the previous 4 years. So, after taking a post-16 teaching qualification, I secured a part-time job teaching A Level Law. Fast forward nearly 18 years I progressed to Acting Deputy Head, following successive promotions - from Head of Law, Head of 6th Form and Senior Assistant Head Teacher with responsibility for Teaching and Learning. I took a voluntary redundancy package in 2018 and a few months later I secured a job as a part time Lecturer in the Law School at Newcastle University. I enjoyed my time there, where my focus was Criminal Law and Legal Institutions and Method. I was also the lead for Transition, Induction and School Outreach. I am now semi-retired but still very much enjoy private teaching and tutoring with passion and enthusiasm.

I provide bespoke lesson materials for topics identified by my students. I send the material through a few days before the lesson and we go through the material online or in person. I produce A grade skeleton answers to exam questions and A3 summary sheets for key topics.
I normally select 4/5 A Level students per year to tutor. Most of the students I pick up at the start of year 13 go on to improve two grades on their Yr 12 grade. This year I have taught A level Law to a home schooled student in one year.
I have also tutored a client from day 1 of his Open University Law degree to completion and a First. I am supporting him now as he completes the SQE. I have also tutored first and second stage LLB students on Tort, Criminal Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law and Business Law.

We engaged Beverley as a private tutor to support our son Tom through his A Level in Law. Beverley brought a rare combination of experience to the role, having worked as a solicitor, tutor, lecturer and former sixth form teacher, which gave her real credibility and insight into both the legal subject matter and the demands of the exam system. She built an excellent rapport with Tom, challenging his development in the subject, and helping him achieve his overall goals.
Beverley created a genuinely structured learning environment while remaining flexible about how sessions were delivered, moving between in person and remote tuition as needed to fit around Tom's schedule. She struck an excellent balance: personable, knowledgeable and supportive, yet always clear about what work needed to be done and by when. Her exam coaching and preparation were particularly strong, and she had a knack for helping Tom understand not just the content but how to perform well under exam conditions.
The clearest example of Beverley's impact was helping Tom complete a two year A Level Law course in just two terms, a genuinely demanding undertaking that required both academic rigour and careful pacing. Alongside this, she supported his EPQ work in the subject and helped him prepare for the LNAT, giving him a well rounded grounding for his next steps. Thanks in large part to Beverley's teaching and approach, Tom went on to secure a place at a Top 5 UK law school at a Russell Group university, a result that speaks for itself. We would not hesitate to recommend her to any family looking for a tutor who combines subject expertise with real teaching skill.View more recommendations
