About Warren
I have collected a professional instructional library of reading and math programs and have empowered children, adolescents, and adults with learning challenges.
I am an accomplished educational professional offering (a) extensive experience providing success for underachieving/at-risk / neglected/delinquent/addicted / SED students of every ethnic, racial, and economic background; (b) a readiness to acknowledge that I don’t have an answer to every problem but do have the energy and curiosity to find one before a deadline; and, (c) personal knowledge of how to turn school failure into success. I hold California Life credentials for Social Studies, Language Arts, and Learning Handicaps, a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, another in English, and a master’s degree in Reading and Learning Handicaps, and No Child Left Behind Certification in Mathematics (most adept through Algebra). I can provide 1:1 instruction or create a small-group pullout program.
I spent 35 in LA County's Divisions of Special Education and Juvenile Court and Community Schools which included my last five years in the Special Handling Unit in Central Juvenile Hall. We never knew when a student would be with us the next day or not. Individualization was the key to planning. Classes included students with skill levels from K-12. This kind of planning is seen as a challenge, not as chaos.
