About Tam
I recently retired from being a professional mathematician in order to move to NYC. In the past fifteen years, I have taught a lot of college math (such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, Arithmetic, Differential Equations, etc.), and when I was in college I tutored high school students. I would like to take students of any level but high school and college math are what I have experience in. My approach to math or teaching math is to try to make things as simple as they can be, so that they are easier to understand. I believe the ability to see things simply is what can get you far, especially in mathematics.

In the first lesson, the student should bring a few math questions, so that I can get to know the student's math level by discussing the answers with them. We will then decide how the next lesson (if there will be one) will be like.
In general, what happens in a lesson is one of the following.
- If you have specific math questions, I will try to answer them.
- If you are confused enough that you cannot formulate specific questions, I will help you understand where your confusion is by asking you questions. Once we figure out what you are confused by, we will proceed to clear that up.
- If you are curious and would like to know more about a particular thing (that I have knowledge of), I will also happy to give you a "lecture" about it in the next lesson.

Perfect! Best math tutor/teacher I think I have ever had. I highly recommend anyone struggling with Diff eq or Cal 1-3 to work with Tam. She helped me understand the material and was very knowledgeable on each topic during the semester.
