About Gwilym

I was Head of a Mathematics Department for 20 years and have provided private tuition on a 1 to 1 bases for about 25 years. During the Lockdown I have continued with lessons utilising Zoom. All my students have responded extremely well. I have the facilities to scan questions from past exam papers and send them to my students by e-mail and most of the parents have access to printers which enables the student and myself to have the documents before us during the lesson which facilitates the teaching.

About the lesson

Based on the previous attainments of my students I am usually able to analyse their strengths and weaknesses after 3 lessons. I tend to use questions from past papers from the relevant Examination Board so that my students are comfortable with the style of questions which will probably appear on future exam papers. I have a very good sense of humour which most students respond to. If they are interested, I often offer a challenging brain teaser/puzzle which they often use to challenge their parents. I have many years experience with the WJEC Examination board but I have tutored students entered for other boards as well. I am a very patient and successful tutor and still enjoy seeing my students progressing in their understanding and appreciation of relevant concepts in Mathematics.

Rates per 50 minutes up to GCSE is £48 ( Students may need to contribute to cost of past papers depending on Exam board - WJEC is free)
AS level is £55 and A level is £60 for the second year
