About Gina
Though Math wasn't always my first love - or my wildly successful subject - what I always did well was believe in myself, and apply myself to reach a goal. I pushed through my downfalls of chronic procrastination, being wildly disorganized and hyperfocused to a fault, that much of my advice and practices for others comes from what I had to struggle through myself!
The confidence and charisma I developed allowed me to be in leadership roles in academic societies in high school, President of a Greek organization (Sorority) in college, and an esteemed and trusted colleage in my educational career. It always went right back to what I BELIEVED I could do, which drove my ability to formulate and execute a plan.
In teaching adolescents for over a decade, my greatest joy came not from teaching the Math curriculum, but helping instill a positive capable attitude - a growth mindset and ability to push through obstacles. Being alongside students and using my words and methods to help them see the best in themselves, and grow in areas they had written off as possible, is what sets me apart.
I've been told many times I have a knack for breaking things down, making topics easier to understand, and having patience to present information in different ways until it makes sense to the learner. I've also done this with adults - student teachers and new teachers, as well as those looking to break through mental barriers such as impostor syndrome.

All lessons - math or otherwise - start from a place of mindset. When you realize you ARE capable, you WILL achieve. Sometimes that takes a bit of intention. My services go so far beyond curriculum. I specialize in partnering with you to see your strengths, your areas in need of improvement personally not just academically, and come up with an achievable plan to make progress. The curriculum comes naturally once the mindset is in the right place. My Mathematics experience with this approach ranges from lower elementary Math through 9th grade Algebra. For mindset work (goal setting, time management, mindfulness), I work well with any age range K - 12.

Perfect! My daughter was more confident after her first session with Gina. She was kind and very flexible amd easy for my daughter to understand. Look forward to having Gina tutor my daughter more!
- I have nothing but great feedback - communication was clear and timely, flexibility was great considering it was a last minute planned session, and the student was kind, friendly, motivated, and a great listener.Gina's response :

The rates posted is truly from a range of 45 minutes to an hour. It does not lower if we agree to only 45 minutes. The variation is important because all students differ, and some may fatigue in the 45 minutes, while others may need a few extra minutes of mindset work or just friendly chatter to warm up to being motivated to work.
My free first lesson will always be a video/virtual lesson, and should really be no longer than 20 minutes (but 30 minutes is the shortest option provided) - this free meeting allows us to "meet" each other, make sure all parties are comfortable, and most importantly, be sure that the student feels good about working with me before moving forward to full lessons. In the 20 minutes, there is time for getting to know you as well as a quick review of a couple of content pieces to get the full feel for how I would work with the student.
