Doctorate in medicine and Surgery
My experiences in Education from 7th grade to pre-med have taught me that students do not learn well when they feel they are being forced to answer questions they never asked in the first place. Where possible, I like to stimulate the curiosity latent in every student and facilitate exploration that leads to the student's discovery of the subject matter.
I began teaching in 1969. After 13 years at the middle and high school level, I left for medical college and worked 25 years as a physician and surgeon. At the end of my medical career I returned to education as adjunct professor of Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology at Saint Petersburg College.
I especially enjoyed helping deserving pre-med students ace their MCATS allowing them to fulfill their dream of going to medical school.
But I also enjoyed working with students of middle school age both in the classroom and in home study situations.
In addition to my Doctorate, Master's and Bachelor's degree, I have completed a surgical residency at Tampa VA Hospital, and I am a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine.
I have published various research papers in peer reviewed medical journals, and have lectured extensively all around the world.
I have participated in many medical mercy missions to developing countries, and donated one day each week to Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine.
Before my medical career I taught Middle School and High School sciences and math. I also was assigned to home study for those students who were suspended or unable to attend school.
After my medical career I taught lecture and lab as adjunct professor of Anatomy/Physiology and Microbiology at St Petersburg College where I also met students in one-on-one tutoring sessions to prepare for classroom tests and standardized tests from the GED to the MCAT .
