About Maher
I have been a Professor Emeritus of Chemistry for the last three years after retiring from a college teaching career. I enjoyed classroom teaching and helping students succeed in chemistry courses. During my thirty two-year in higher education I taught a variety of courses other than organic chemistry including Environmental chemistry, biochemistry, and general chemistry. I have a M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in organic chemistry from Indiana University and the University of Cincinnati and a B.Sc. degree in applied chemistry from Damascus University.

Organic chemistry courses are often perceived as the most difficult college courses for biology, chemistry, and pre-med students. I taught the two courses for 32 years at a four-year private college. More recently, I tutored many students in person and online in organic 1 & 2. In my experience I found that one on one sessions of explaining and problem solving to be the most effective way of learning organic chemistry.
