About Kelley
I bring a professional, patient, and supportive teaching style to every lesson. As a retired special education teacher with over 22 years of classroom experience, I understand that every learner is different. Some students need extra time, some need information explained in a new way, and some simply need a teacher who believes in them while helping them rebuild confidence.
My teaching approach includes visual comprehension strategies, positive reinforcement, customized lessons, and step-by-step instruction. I use visuals, graphic organizers, guided reading strategies, examples, modeling, and practice activities to help students better understand what they are reading and writing. I also believe in celebrating progress, no matter how small, because encouragement helps students stay motivated.
I specialize in reading comprehension, writing support, grammar, remedial English, GED English, adult education, and special education support. My background includes working with general education students, gifted learners, diverse learners, adult learners, ESL students, and students with academic skill gaps.
What sets me apart is my ability to meet students where they are without judgment. I take time to identify missing skills, create lessons based on the student’s needs, and explain concepts in a way that feels clear and manageable. My goal is to help each student feel capable, supported, and prepared to move forward academically.

I teach remedial reading, writing, grammar, reading comprehension, GED English, and high school diploma support for students and adult learners who need extra help building confidence and academic skills.
I am a retired special education teacher with over 22 years of classroom experience, including adult education, diverse learner support, IEP knowledge, remedial instruction, and student intervention. I have worked with elementary, middle school, high school, and adult learners, helping students strengthen foundational reading and writing skills at their own pace.
My teaching approach is patient, structured, and encouraging. I break lessons down into clear steps, identify skill gaps, and help students understand not just the answer, but the process behind it. I use reading strategies, writing practice, grammar review, study skills, and real-world examples to help learners feel more capable and prepared.
What sets me apart is my experience working with students who have struggled in traditional classrooms. I know how to support learners who feel overwhelmed, discouraged, behind, or unsure of themselves. My goal is to help each student rebuild confidence, improve skills, and move forward with a clear plan for success.
