I approach each lesson with a clearly defined goal, eg: to learn common greetings in Spanish. Then I will introduce them and incorporate an application practice to reinforce the skill. Finally, at the end of each lesson, I will have another exercise that focuses on the newly learned skill, though reinforces previously learned ones, so that each skill does not go unlearned. Also, I am a huge proponent of note-cards for learning vocabulary, so the end of each lesson will have a vocabulary list that will be copied and memorized, since learning Spanish through immersion, I know first-hand that the only way I can communicate is if I have the proper vocabulary.
I am a returned Peace Corps Volunteer who served 27 months speaking Spanish in Paraguay and traveling all over South AmeriCorps. I have nearly a decade of teaching experience and taught english to Paraguayans both one-on-one and in groups. I have helped students learn the very basics as well as helped some advanced students fine-tune their skills. I can teach both written and conversational Spanish.
I have a flat cancellation fee of $20. This will hopefully encourage students not to cancel, which will encourage progress, and it will make up for any inconvenience, since I'd reserved that time to teach.
I knew Katie in Asunción, Paraguay. She was a peace corp volunteer and she ask me to take her a photo with her friend :) and since then she is one of my best friend. The level of her spanish is very good, she can talk with spanish speekers fluently. She is a great teacher!
