About Yi

By working with so many world known artists, I learned and developed a distinct style for teaching. I first started to teach my neighbour's kid when I was 14, and then develoepd a interests in teaching. During my training, I taught as a teaching assistant at Juilliard, and now hired as a assistant at Northwestern University.

I have a wonderful and professional training background- from Juilliard to New England Conseravtory, and now a Doctoral condidate of Northwestern University. During my education, I have collaborated with many well known artists, and performed in worldwide concert halls. My interests in piano pedagogy inspired me work with students from different backgrounds, and have since arranged workshops and masterclasses for people from different age gropus. My previous teachers include, Jerome Lowenthal, Victor Rosenbaum and Gabriel Kwok. I am very greatful for my experience in piano pedagogy which helps me provide a wonderful foundation for my students.

About the lesson

It's a rewarding experience. My teaching principal is to help my student to engage with the performing style they want by keeping what they have, and lead them to a higher level. I will always help them to fix the spot they don’t feel satisfied at the beginning of the class, and then encourage them to find the perfect sound and technique so that I could help them to get closer to their goals at the end of the class.

Through age 4 to 75. I also have worked with professional students to help them prepare for entry exam to art schools.

I recently arranged workshops and lectures in New York collaborated with Juilliard artists, and we have visited Williams Residence, Manhattan School of music and MoMA
