About Xiao
I have had the great privilege of studying with world-class piano instructors and pedagogues for 6 years at Rice University. My scholarship there involved teaching non-piano major students, which helped me realize that this is a great, if not the best way to give back to the music community, and to pass on what I've learned.

You've heard this only a million times, but teaching is always about the student. As such, your goals will always take priority. I will of course advise you on whether the goalpost could be adjusted and how to get there efficiently.
In lessons I will give you clear, incremental steps to work towards, and ensure that you're always making steady progress towards your goals. We will work on everything pertaining to the instrument, including technique and musical interpretation. I strive to show you how to practice so that you can improve quicker on your own.
It goes without saying, but playing the piano should be fun; you should enjoy the repertoire that you play, and I can give you suggestions as needed.
