About Alexis

I am a junior at Auburn University residing in Washington DC. I love traveling, helping others and spending time with family and friends. I am in Health and Hospital Administration club, Tooth Fairy Club and currently an active member of Sigma Kappa sorority. I have many young nephews and cousins who look to me as their role model for guidance and assistance in school. I enjoy seeing the look on my nephews and cousins faces when they finally understand how to solve a problem!

About the lesson

I believe that students should not just memorize the steps in how to solve a problem, but understand each step of solving a problem. I offer in depth learning, a patient approach, focus on understanding and am well organized. I would start off my lesson with a thorough explanation of the background of the subject matter, a review of relevant issues and show how the problem may relate to real life situations. I would then thoughtfully explain questions in a way my student would understand and comprehend.I believe listening to the student is of paramount importance and critical to correctly teaching a subject. Therefore, I am always listening to the students concerns and trying to understand their reasoning on how they would address and solve the problem. I offer lessons for 5-8th grade students specifically focusing on science and math.
