About Callum

Since a young age, I have always been a keen language learner. This passion developed further during my education at Trinity College Dublin where I studied Slavic languages and literature. For a significant amount of time, I lived, studied and worked in Moscow where I was able to not only perfect my language skills but also further my understanding and appreciation for Slavic culture. I graduated from both Trinity College Dublin and Moscow State University with a distinction in Russian language and literature. I, then, went on to study Translation and Interpreting at Queen's University Belfast where I got the opportunity to put my skills to the test in a professional environment. Since then, I have worked with a number of organisations in Russia and elsewhere as a teacher, translator and interpreter. I have also been awarded a Level 4 OCN Community Interpreting qualification in Northern Ireland which allows me to work as a recognised professional.

About the lesson

With a linguistic and cultural education, a professional background in Translation and Interpreting as well as several years of experience teaching Russian in several countries across the world, I am confident that my approach will allow you to achieve your language learning goals. Lessons will focus on key areas of language acquisition including reading, writing and the spoken word. Russian is a complex language with lots of tricky grammatical structures. Therefore, a particular focus on building up an understanding of Russian grammar will let you feel more confident in building your own sentences and fluently conversing like a native. Having said that, and whether it be for tourism, business or just for fun, our classes will be 100% tailored to you. You decide what is most important to you and I will cater to your needs. I have experience teaching all ages from secondary school students seeking to ace their GCSEs or A-Levels through to established professionals who wish to diversify their professional curriculum.
