About Svetlana

I have 31 years of work experience with children of various ages (5 – 15 years old) and I worked in different countries in many schools. I have observed that children mimic adults as a model, copy grown-ups and would like to be similar to them. Children and young people always look at how we communicate with others, how we walk, how we dress, and what we do. For me as a Music Teacher, it is very important to present myself as a professional. As a role model, I am demonstrating positive behaviour and show mutual respect for pupils and colleagues.

About the lesson

In the classroom, I don’t just teach how to play various instruments, but also teach the children about music theory and history. For example, I worked very closely with Year 5 and Year 6 children in creating a music assembly about a great composer Mozart. This involved me teaching them about the music of Mozart as well as how to play lullabies on xylophones and for one pupil how to play a duet on the piano. I inspired the children who were very eager to learn and work together as a team. I constructed the assembly and different elements for the children, teaching them all about Mozart and his life as he grew up. Mozart started to play and compose in the same age as the children in a primary school. Mozart’s life is a good example for the children and young people and encourages them to do their best. Our work as a team taught the children to communicate effectively with others.
