About Shannon

I have been successfully teaching lessons both privately and at my local gym, Pursue Fitness since my certification in July 2017. I specialize in Restorative, Yin, Vinyasa, Hatha and Meditation. My focus is on helping each individual find that inner light that connects us to our Divine Maker and the Universe. Modern society and the advances in technology in our world are slowly making each of us more secluded and disconnected from the world around us. Social media is the largest Oxymoron I have ever encountered because it is NOT connecting us with the world and other people, it is encouraging us to be alone and hide behind computer and phone screens instead of truly experiencing and embracing our true nature which is to be communal people. As humans, we are wired to be connected to other beings and other people. My goal is to help everyone to reconnect to their inner light and help it to shine and learn to reconnect with the other people and beings in our lives to rebuild the community and life that we truly desire and need to have to thrive, not just survive.

About the lesson

Hi, I'm Shannon. I'm a vegetarian, ex-gymnast, internationally Certified and Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. I received my intensive RYT200 certification this summer through the fabulous Gypsea Yoga School located in the amazing town of Uvita, Costa Rica.

I am trained in Hatha Yoga, and I specialize in Vinyasa, Astanga, and Restorative with emphasis on Meditation and Pranayama; however I also have training in Yin, and Kundalini as well. My approach on teaching is to focus on ahimsa (Sanskrit for compassion) and Pura Vida(the Costa Rican philosophy of Pure Life) and apply them to everything I do and everyone I meet. I believe that each and every one of us has a beautiful inner light, and finding mine was one of the hardest things I've ever done.

I work with students privately or in small groups where I can focus on the individual levels of experience. I also host tropical retreats, long weekend/short yoga getaways, focused on self discovery and finding ways to let your Inner Light shine through yoga, as well as workshops and corporate yoga programs.

Throughout my journey to complete my certification, I learned many things including the importance of regulating the chaos in my mind so I can focus and live in the here and now. Regulating the "mind stuff" is a huge part of my own practice so I incorporate into each of my lessons a guided meditation to relax your body and clear your mind that way you are better able to approach the rest of your day feeling revived and rejuvenated. I can easily travel up to 50 miles from my home studio but anything farther than that I will have to charge a mileage/gas fee of $0.50/MILE for the additional mileage. I have a reliable car and valid drivers license.
