About Sara

I grew up speaking both French and Spanish at home, had an English and French teacher as a grandmother, and actually practiced English the most once I moved to New York. I'm currently learning Chinese in college. So I know firsthand that learning a language is about confidence and connection, not just grammar rules. You learn the most by actually being around people who speak it, immersed in the language, not just from a textbook. That's the environment I try to create in every lesson: calm, encouraging, and adapted to how each student actually learns, whether that's through conversation, structured practice, or reading aloud together. I'm organized and always come prepared, but I stay flexible depending on what a student needs that day. Having spent years across different countries and languages myself, I understand how rewarding it feels when things finally click, and I want to help my students get there too.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor:

I focus on conversational, real-life French rather than rote memorization. Since French is my native language, I teach the way it's actually spoken: natural rhythm, common expressions, and cultural context so students build confidence speaking, not just passing grammar quizzes.

A typical lesson:

I start with a short warm-up in French to get students speaking right away, then move into the day's focus (a vocabulary theme, or reading passage). We practice through dialogue, listening exercises, and reading aloud, and I always leave time at the end for questions and a quick recap of what we covered.

What sets me apart:

I've taught French one-on-one to a young child, so I know how to adapt my teaching style to different ages and levels, patient and playful with beginners, more conversational and nuanced with advanced students. I'm also trilingual myself, so I understand firsthand what makes language learning click (and where it gets frustrating).

Beginners to intermediate learners of any age, kids building early language skills, high schoolers preparing for exams, or adults wanting conversational French for travel or work.
