Teaching Method and Techniques (Direct Instruction)
My teaching style is rooted in direct instruction—clear, structured, and efficient. I explain the concept, model how to solve problems, then guide students through practice until they can do it independently. No fluff, no overcomplication. The goal is simple: understand the skill, apply it correctly, and move on.
I focus on:
Step-by-step demonstrations
Immediate correction of errors
Frequent check-ins for understanding
Repetition and practice to build mastery
A Typical Lesson Plan
Review & Diagnose (5–10 minutes)
We start with a short review or assessment to identify specific areas of weakness or confusion.
Direct Teaching (10–15 minutes)
I give a clear explanation of the targeted concept with examples. I show exactly how and why each step is taken.
Guided Practice (20 minutes)
We work on problems together. I walk the student through the process and address errors on the spot.
Independent Practice (10–15 minutes)
The student applies what they’ve learned independently, with my support if needed. This reinforces understanding and builds confidence.
Wrap-Up & Next Steps (5 minutes)
Quick summary of what was learned, where they improved, and what’s next.
