About Shantanu
I am a science communicator and astronomer with a professional experience of 5 years during which I have trained and mentored kids and adults alike in science and astronomy through both theory and hands on experimentations. My experience spans from environments as diverse as from classrooms to parties, schools to heritage sites. I have a masters in Physics with a specialisation in Astrophysics and Laser Physics. I am also a researcher in astrophysics and preparing for PhD. I have a deep rooted passion for education and have also volunteered as a science teacher for underserved kids in the past. I have experience in both online and offline teaching methods and working with kids of varied potentials.

I have taught in both offline and online mode to students using hands on, visually aided methodology.
Here are the key guiding principles of my classes:
1) Clasirty of basics: Even the simplest of formulae can hold deeper discussions and meanings than are usually carried on in the classrooms. One cannot expect to excel in the advance parts without fully understanding the basics.
2) Anti-rotefication: The culture of rote learning has been silently encouraged in our education system and modes of examination. While being a part of the system, escaping it is difficult, I try to inculcate the behaviour in my students to abandon the practice of rote learning no matter how convenient and understand what goes behind every step. A little extra hard work now goes a long way.
3) Encouraging questions: I am no stranger to weird questions that students put forth, and in my opinion these questions help both-the student and myself, to gain deeper understanding of a topic.
Besides this, in my online classes I try to refer students to many online videos and visual aids that hep in clarifying concepts. Easy DIY activities are always a bonus to really understanding a topic.
