BA, Mathematics/History 2012
MA, Special education 2010
Since 2006, I have been in various roles in Title 1 schools, committed to providing the quality teaching from which I benefitted; for the past four years, I have taught in the Spanish Harlem neighborhood where I grew up. My philosophy of education is that all students can learn. I integrate technology into my classroom in order to support student learning, and I provide students the opportunity to approach the curriculum at their learning level with materials differentiated to their individual needs.
I am an experienced Title 1, New York City Department of Education Certified Secondary School Teacher of mathematics with a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics and a Master’s Degree in special education, relocating to Seattle. I am seeking a full-time position teaching middle school mathematics in a Title 1 school in SPS; please feel free to contact my current employer.
Having experienced first-hand the power of education to break the cycle of poverty, I am committed to offering quality education to students in high needs schools. Through an academic scholarship awarded by the Boys and Girls Club of New York, I was able to attend an elite boarding school in New England; after two decades of a career in banking and real estate, I returned to school to fulfill my desire to support kids by becoming a mathematics teacher.

Lance is my daughter's math teacher in high school and also her faculty adviser. He is a fantastic teacher and mentor. My daughter is doing fantastic at math since working with Lance. I highly recommend him!
Always makes learning fun and easy, hands down the best math teacher I've ever had. I've always loved math, but had trouble understanding some of the concepts. With Lance, I rarely run into that problem.
Lance is dedicated to helping his students make sense of math. He is very good at boosting students' self-confidence and resilience. He is also able to explain math in a variety of ways so that students understand the concepts. Lance is patient and kind!
Lance is always thinking about the students. He creates engaging lessons using technology and creativity. Lance will also help out any student or teacher in need of help. He always has the students best interest in mind and will go above and beyond for them.
In today's world many people go into their Teaching because of the lack of jobs in Corporate America, this is not the case with Lance. He went into teaching Math because he wanted to give children his belief in their abilities. To stimulate them in believing they can learn and integrating his skills to teach them how to learn while encouraging them to believe in themselves.
It is important that a Teacher believes in their Students. It lights up opportunities in them when it is at the core of teaching. This is what Lance brings to teaching. Its his Calling to invigorate his Students.
I say this not as a Family Member but as an observer of his efforts to become a Teacher, and his dedication to become an involved Teacher for his Students.
I recommend him cause he is patient and caring; each day he is willing to take those extra steps to build up the confidence in each of his Student.
