About Elena
I have worked with private tutoring services for over 5 years and I have been an Elementary and Middle School teacher for the last 15 years. I have also worked as the Science Department Chairperson that ran the science department and an ESL Coordinator where I worked on observing and training teachers, providing professional development, and differentiating curriculum to ensure all students were provided an equitable education. I am also passionate about data-driven instruction and providing frequent checks for understanding to adjust as needed to ensure my students are with me every step of the way.

I am passionate about inquiry-based science education. I love to use your own natural curiosity to guide the planning and development of the lessons. I always include real-world examples or engage my students with a shared phenomenon to draw you into the topic of today's lesson. I also think it is important to differentiate the lessons to ensure they are equitable and allow you to access the information aligned with how you learn best. Lastly, I specialize in teaching students who are learning English as a new language and I am happy to help develop your language proficiency. I have been an elementary teacher for 6 years and I have worked with middle school science learners for the last 10 years. I have taught all the grades and all the science subjects. If you have any questions about Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science, Engineering, or English I am here to help you.
