About Laura-Jane

I am a Forensic Science graduate who now works for a large retail business as a merchandising lead. Although I do not work as a forensic scientist (due to a recruitment freeze at the time of graduation), my love of science and maths has never left me and I love helping children understand these subjects, grow in their confidence and also sometimes gain love for the subjects themselves.

*I have my own high school child who I regularly help with Maths and Science specifically and he is now one of the best students in his class. He also did very well in his SATs at the end of primary
*I specifically want to help children with their SATs because I didn't do as well in my SATs at an early age even though I wanted too, which meant my high school journey was a struggle at first, due to the lessons being too easy - I was bored. It was the way I was taught in primary school that caused this, so my aim is to help children fall in love with the subject early to avoid any stress or upset at the time of SATs.
*I am currently 1 on 1 tutoring one of my friends children too who is now flying in primary school in terms of confidence in her maths and how she views the maths questions

About the lesson

*I like to teach in a way that makes the child more comfortable in what they are learning. I like to describe maths problems and areas within the curriculum in such a way that it sticks in their minds and helps them in their SATs.
*The key is finding a way to teach your child the subject that makes sense to them.
My lessons are aimed at year 5/year 6 of primary school to help get them ready for their SATs.

*At first we will look at what the your child's strengths and weaknesses are, which part of maths do they really not enjoy or understand
*Then we will look at the curriculum for their year group - what can I do to make each area easier for them
*If you have a weekly session booked in we will also go through any homework your child has and any areas they are unsure of
*The main goal here is to ensure your child comes away from the session happy and that little bit more confident each time in what they know and what they can show in their SATs at the end of year 6

Details

£15 per hour online - minimum term is one hour.

If you would like to buy packages you will get 1 free session for 5H booking (£60) and 2 free sessions for 10H bookings (£120)

Everyone can have 1 free session to begin with to ensure they are happy to carry on.

No additional fees, we will work from homework your child has and I will have resources I can share for free.
