About Laughton
I am a Science lecturer with 25 years of experience and have taught international and local students by engaging students in discovery-based learning through projects with a focus on the local environment to ensure the students. I have also developed curriculum for grades 9 - 11 in secondary science to create awareness of environmental issues, such as protection, conservation, preservation, and
restoration, with an emphasis on educating and empowering students. Additionally, prepared students for the rigors of studying science and other topics at the university level.

Activity-based – Engaging students to take control of their own learning, provide guidance during activities and allow them to share. Encourage participation among those who seem not to want to get involved.
Discussion – I find this method to be very good for certain topics, however, it can lead to only certain students participating and limited participation among others. We used discussions to stimulate students’ memory on readings, and life experiences especially when discussing issues about ecology, and group discussion on specific questions to generate more questions stimulate the learning process and keep students engaged.
Blended methods such as Active learning and cooperative learning engage all students. These methods allow for collaboration, critical thinking, engagement, sharing, and small group discussion. This increases the flexibility of the teacher, empower the students to be responsible for their own learning, and help struggling students to be much more involved.
