About Samantha

My education background is extensively in science. I have 4 college degrees, an AS, BS, MS and PhD, all in the life sciences. I also have 10 years of scientific research experience working in various life science fields. In addition to my academic and research experience, I am a well-established teacher and college instructor. I have taught high school science and college science for almost 4 years. Classes that I have taught include Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Public Health and Integrated Physics and Chemistry. I have about 4 years of tutoring experience where I worked with people from Kindergarten to college! Subjects that I tutored include Computer Science, Algebra, English, Writing and just about any Science you can think of!

About the lesson

My teaching method is very personalized. I am wonderful at reading people and understanding the gaps they need help filling. My lessons are for any grade-level or college-level. I am very good at taking complex information and making it fun, easy to understand and engaging. My lessons use a chunking method, where I try to break things down into step-by-step processes or into bite-sized pieces. I am a visual teacher who is great with coming up with silly jokes or entertaining ways to remember information. A typical lesson with me consists of my 10-15 minute explanation followed by us navigating what you retained or understood together. There is no pressure to be perfect as some of our best lessons come from making mistakes!
