About Sean
I began working summers as an Electrical Engineer when I was 16 - 18 years old. Acquired my BS in Interdisciplinary Mathematics and Economics as well as my MS in Computational and Data Sciences with a focus in Analytics and Applied Mathematics. I am my own "first student" in that I found greater results teaching myself the material while using what was provided during class to supplement my learning.
I have "tutored" many friends (Physics and Math/Stats mainly) just for fun but would like to help more people, particularly the youth, outside my immediate circle. While I am proud to call myself a nerd I feel that I bridge the gap better than most in terms of learning and connecting to the technical stuff.
My methods of self-teaching have carried over to other aspects of my life; particularly Functional Fitness Training with an emphasis on Volleyball. I have trained my fellow Semi-Pro/Pro level Beach Volleyball friends and teammates as well as training speed and agility for a young Rugby athlete with inspirations of becoming a professional player in Australia.
All that aside, the one thing I can promise is I care far more about the individual(s) I'm teaching over a singular quiz score or a couple of problems on some homework or not making it to playoffs. The difficulties I've overcome in my life have led me to the point where all I want to do is help others in anyway I can.

My teaching approach always begins with asking the student(s) how they are doing and actually listening. Like I mentioned before, I care about people first. I like to reassure that as long as we're talking there is zero judgement and they should feel comfortable asking as many questions as needed. It feels as though there are too many cases where nerves get in the way and they avoid asking questions because they are self conscious, don't want to seem repetitive, or whatever other reason but I feel it is vitally important to set up a comfortable environment to actually be able to learn.
Connection is key; if the student doesn't actually understand/connect with the material then "learning" will only be short term and that's not good enough for me. I'm not saying everyone must be an expert but I emphasize comprehension over learning.
Finally, the foundation of my teaching style is in Critical Thinking. It is the basis of which can be applied to any and every scenario which, when used, can elicit the confidence to tackle any problem.
