Everyone has a unique information processing style. In tutoring, the teacher is able to tailor her presentation exactly to the needs of the student. You listen to the student's responses and you watch how they are solving problems, and you correct where they make errors and correct the misconception. I then make several more problems to practice the same idea. Math is built from very simple small foundation blocks. I show all the simple blocks of any complex idea, often using different colors or other similar means. The main secret to understanding Math is to use basic logic to solve it. I show students the basic logic. The never have to memorize anything
I have worked in the industry and then taught Math and Statistics at College, and I have family members with ASD and ADHD so I know how to present material such that they understand. Here is one of my Evals from Laney college: (concealed information)
