Anytime I do personal lessons, I let my students set their individual goals. "What do you want to achieve?" "What's the end goal?" Something I've found with students is that when they set their own goals, they're most likely to go after them. That's what I want my students to get out of a private session with me. I want them to feel like they've conquered what they've set out to achieve and they were able to do it on their own. I like to make dance an inclusive, fun learning and sharing experience for everyone.
I am a native of Pascagoula, MS where I grew up training in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, and hip hop. I have been dancing for 16 years and have taught dance and choreographed in multiple settings the past 3. At the age of 14, I was accepted into the International Ballet Competition's Dance School in Jackson, MS, where I had the privilege of training with nationally renowned instructors and choreographers. I developed my passion for teaching in college where I taught Hip Hop classes on campus, creative movement classes in the community, and improvisation and modern at a local dance studio. Three years ago, I started a free community dance class program for faculty and students at my university. My choreographic work has been displayed at the American College Dance Festival South Conference, as well as at the local level. I love to share the art of dance, bring people together, and help people achieve their individual goals.
