About Stephen
I am an engaging, patient teacher, and want to get to know you, and how you learn best. You are capable of great things! I have 6 years of experience as a classroom teacher, having taught a variety of subjects mostly in middle school. I have a wife and daughter, and love playing sports, card games and board games, reading, and watching movies and shows. I also have many years of computer gaming experience under my belt.

I teach to the needs of the student. I home in on gaps in learning first and explain the foundations of principles before moving on. Math builds on itself, and without the basics, it will be challenging to move forward, which is why I like to start most lessons by asking whether the student knows certain basics of the topic first. Afterwards, I explain the steps, piece by piece, making sure the student understands each part before moving forward. Finally, I like to finish with completing several practice problems together, and then the student working on a few alone. My lessons are for anyone taking math at the 5th-10th grade levels. I possess a Master's in teaching with an emphasis in mathematics.
