About Barbara
Teaching my students gives me the opportunity to watch each one achieve success at their own "speed" levels with my added nurturing, patience, and sense of humor. Inspiring them throughout the many years of being an educator has encouraged bonding and lasting friendships. Luckily, I have worked with students of all ages in the public and private schools as well as homeschooling plus one-on-one instruction on a regular basis.

I use a variety of methods to achieve success in my students' goals.
Always open to different techniques, I begin with dialogue to connect with my students and make sure they know why they have a new teacher (a term I prefer rather than tutor) in their academic experience. I assess the issues and prepare a portfolio to share the progress. I have been a literacy coach and know how comprehension and reading skills are present according to the skills and can be creative and interesting. I do like to make them participate in the lesson by setting their own ways of learning by demonstration. My lessons are prepared in advance. I see teaching as a connection. Communication with my students is essential.
