I’m Erika Rigger, a professional lifestyle photographer in coastal North Carolina. With over a decade of experience capturing families, maternity, newborns, and small events, I’ve built a thriving photography business around natural light and authentic storytelling. Now I help new and growing photographers master their craft with simple, hands-on guidance. From learning your camera to directing clients with confidence, I’ll teach you the skills (and the secrets) that make photos come alive—and help you build the confidence to grow your own photography business.

Teaching Method & Techniques
I teach photography the same way I shoot—with a natural, authentic, and connection-focused approach. My method blends technical skills (lighting, composition, camera settings) with the art of storytelling, helping students move beyond stiff poses and into capturing genuine emotion. I emphasize working with natural light, creating relaxed environments, and using gentle direction to bring out candid moments.

A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson is a mix of hands-on practice and real-world application:

Warm-Up: Review student goals + quick Q&A on their challenges.

Technical Foundations: Camera settings, exposure, and using natural light.

Practical Application: On-location shooting practice—learning to direct clients, manage different lighting conditions, and capture authentic connections.

Critique & Feedback: Review of images shot that day, with tips on editing style, client experience, and storytelling.

Take-Home Assignment: A creative exercise to strengthen skills before the next lesson.
