About Luke

Hi, my name is Luke, and I am a 19-year-old second-year University student studying Natural Sciences at the University of Leeds. During my A levels, I began to understand the true value of teaching through my biology teacher. She taught in a more interactive way than I had ever experienced before, which made the subject come alive for me. This approach helped me achieve top grades in my A levels because when you are interested in a subject, it makes it far easier to remember the content. As a tutor, my goal is to inspire and ignite a passion for learning in my students. I use fun and effective strategies to make the content engaging and easier to digest. I have experience mentoring younger students, helping them improve their study techniques and achieve better grades. With my tutoring, you can expect to develop a deeper understanding of the material, improved memory retention, and better exam performance.

My teaching style is based on a three-step process: understanding, remembering, and applying. First, we will go over the content together with an emphasis on questions to get to the heart of the concepts being taught. Next, instead of rote memorization, we will employ special memory techniques, such as mnemonic devices and the mind palace method, to make the information fun and easy to recall. Finally, we will put your newfound knowledge to the test by applying the information to real exam questions to help you pass your exams!

While I was doing my A levels, I participated in a college run mentor scheme where I helped younger students make their revision more effective. For example, I successfully helped a student remember tricky information using the mind palace technique. A typical lesson would be one hour, but these can be adjusted to fit your individual needs. My lessons are aimed at students taking their GCSEs or A levels.
