About Joshua
Hi! My name is Josh and I am a second-year student at the University of Cambridge studying Natural Sciences where I am specialising in Materials Science, which is essentially a mix of physics, chemistry and engineering with maths tying all of it together.
Before university I went to a disadvantaged state school, and so I understand how much even just a little help from someone can give you that driving force to succeed in a subject. My tutoring style is targeted - I want to focus on those areas you want to improve on most. We can build your understanding from the ground up if that's what you want, or if it's that one bit of a topic you just can't understand, we can make connections and make sure you really do get it!

My lessons are aimed both at students who are attempting to reach the top grades at GCSE and A-level and at those who wish to improve from lower grades. Lessons will be tailored to the students' requirements and I am very flexible, but there will be a particular emphasis on pushing students to the best of their abilities regardless of the level they work at.
My lessons for both Maths and Physics will focus particularly on applying the knowledge which you have learnt in lessons, whilst also helping to consolidate pre-existing knowledge and making you more confident in applying it. There will be a particular emphasis on exam questions and exam technique as I find that this is what students most struggle with!
Lessons will typically be 60 minutes long, but happy to do longer lessons if you require.
