About Sarah
I am a Secondary Education and History major. I have been providing volunteer tutor lessons for over 3 years to peers, students in middle school, and high schools. I have taught groups as large as four students at one time. I have helped multiple students raise their grades by two letter grades in a variety of subjects such as English, literature, history, and political science. I have also helped several other students raise their grades by single letter grades in subjects such as biology and geometry.

I have worked with a majority of high school students during my time as a tutor. I typically base my lessons on the students book, handouts, and current assignments. I also like to use their future assignments or future chapters as guide to help ensure the information from one lesson flows smoothly into the next. I prefer that students have read their materials and/or taken notes and reviewed the information privately. I like to begin by having the student or students explain the information to me in their own words and tell me what information they felt was the most significant. I want to encourage students to be critical thinkers so I like to have discussions and small writing exercises where they can evaluate more than just the when, where, and what but also help them better understand the why and how.
