About Elena

Bonjour !

I am a 29 year-old French native speaker currently working as a French and English teacher for children and adults in Nantes, France. I am a qualified Secondary teacher and Uni tutor and have been working as an MFL teacher with students of all ages and abilities for over 5 years. During the summer break, I now have availabilities to offer French/English lessons online again!

- I can personalize my lessons according to your needs and tastes :)!
- I develop differentiated methodologies (I can use a PowerPoint as a structure to the lesson but also various media), and can offer conversational lessons, grammar-based tutoring, speaking games, cultural activities, strategies to develop communication and confidence...
- The length and frequency are up to you. Rate is £27/hour (+commission) and I can offer one-off lessons but also intensive courses (e.g. 4 hours per day). Packages are also possible (for example a 5 lessons package for individual lessons would be £120 instead of £135!).
- Group lessons are also possible, should there be several people interested (e.g. in a group of 3 you would only pay £12 each!
- Every week the lesson has a theme/objective and I can adapt to my students` needs/preferences
- I can email any vocab and resources used after class.

I am available from from now onwards (with a break between July 28th and August 16th), and the hours can be flexible. I should be able to offer early evening lessons but have more availabilities in the daytime (FYI, there would be a possibility of continuing lessons after late August but I will have much more limited time slots).

Here's a bit more about my experience: I was a Modern Foreign Languages teacher in a Secondary School in Brighton until I relocated to my French hometown in March during to the Covid apocalypse! I now also teach English as well as French (as foreign languages), to children and adults, in groups and 1-to-1 formats. I have over 5 years of experience in Education and love tutoring! I like to try and challenge the French grumpy stereotype:)! I always aim to create a safe and friendly atmosphere to put my language-learners at ease and maximise their potential! I think my strengths as a teacher are my patience, experience, positivity, humour and empathy.

Since starting lessons with Elena about 4 months ago I feel that my confidence in speaking french has improved. Elena is happy to do lessons focussing on grammar and conversation (on any topics I wish) and always comes to the lessons well prepared with a detailed plan for the hour. She is a great teacher who I would really recommend.

Elena R is a very helpful teacher of French. She is so obviously a trained teacher. This is evident in the way her preparation is cleverly organised. Her lessons are not only well-structured they are also enjoyable, so much so, that I really look forward to a lesson with Elena. I would expect that Elena is capable of teaching French at any level, from complete beginner, to the experienced speaker in need of advancement.
